Parivartini Ekadashi
Parivartini Ekadashi is observed on Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi and is also called Padma, Parsva, Jaljhulni or Vamana Ekadashi. Tradition holds that during his Chaturmas sleep Lord Vishnu turns over on this day.

This Ekadashi falls after Ganesh Chaturthi and before Anant Chaturdashi. In the Padma Purana it is named Padma Ekadashi.
Significance of Parivartini Ekadashi
In the Padma Purana, Brahma tells Narada that this Ekadashi of Bhadrapada's bright fortnight is renowned as Padma, that Lord Hrishikesha is worshipped on it, and that it grants every success and destroys every calamity. Reading or hearing its story frees a person from every sin.
According to the katha, no rain fell for three years in the kingdom of the righteous King Mandhata of the solar line, and his people were tormented by hunger. Seeking a remedy, the king reached the sage Angiras in the forest. The sage named a cause of the drought, but the remedy would have meant killing an innocent ascetic, so the king refused it and asked for a remedy rooted in dharma.
Then the sage taught him the vow of Padma Ekadashi in Bhadrapada's bright fortnight. The king kept it together with all his people of the four varnas, the clouds began to rain and the earth grew rich with crops.
How Parivartini Ekadashi Is Celebrated
Devotees bathe in the morning, take the vow, worship Lord Vishnu and hear the katha. By tradition this day celebrates the sleeping Vishnu turning over, and in many places the Lord's image is taken out for a water procession, which is why it is called Jaljhulni Ekadashi.
According to the Padma Purana, on this day one should give a brahmin a pot full of water wrapped in cloth, curd and rice, an umbrella and shoes. The next day, on Dwadashi, the fast is broken within the prescribed parana muhurat.
