Sunday

Lord Surya

Sunday is dedicated to Surya Dev, the Sun God, whose light and energy sustain all life. Offering water to the rising sun and reciting the Surya Chalisa on this day is considered auspicious for health, vitality, and success.

Monday

Lord Shiva

Monday (Somvar) is considered especially dear to Lord Shiva, whose name Som is also linked to the moon. Worshipping Shiva with water, milk, and bel leaves on this day is believed to fulfil wishes and bring peace of mind.

Vrat: Many devotees observe the Somvar Vrat, fasting through the day and worshipping Shiva in the evening, a practice that becomes especially widespread during Shravan.

Tuesday

Hanuman

Tuesday is sacred to Lord Hanuman, whose strength, devotion, and courage devotees invoke for protection from hardship and negative energy. Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa and Bajrang Baan on this day is a widespread tradition.

Vrat: Some devotees also observe a Tuesday vrat and visit a Hanuman temple for special worship.

Wednesday

Lord Ganesha

Wednesday is associated with Lord Ganesh and with Budh (Mercury), the planet linked to intellect and communication. Worshipping Ganesh, the remover of obstacles, on this day is believed to bring wisdom and success in new undertakings.

Thursday

Lord Vishnu

Thursday (Guruvar) is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and to Brihaspati, the guru of the gods and planet of wisdom. Worshipping Vishnu and one's gurus on this day is believed to bring knowledge, guidance, and prosperity.

Vrat: The Guruvar Vrat involves fasting and worship of Vishnu and Brihaspati, often observed to strengthen Jupiter's influence in one's horoscope.

Friday

Maa Lakshmi and Santoshi Mata

Friday is considered auspicious for the grace of Goddess Lakshmi, and it's also the day associated with Santoshi Mata, worshipped for contentment and the fulfilment of wishes. Many households perform a Lakshmi puja on Friday evenings.

Vrat: The Solah Shukravar Vrat, sixteen consecutive Fridays of fasting and listening to the katha, is a well-known tradition observed to seek Santoshi Mata's blessing.

Saturday

Shani Dev

Saturday is dedicated to Shani Dev, whose influence in astrology is linked to justice and the fruits of one's actions. Worshipping Shani and offering sesame oil on this day is believed to ease hardship and bring discipline.

Vrat: Many devotees observe a Shanivar Vrat to pacify Shani Dosha or the effects of Sade Sati.
